Why are Omega-3’s so good for us? Simply put,
many of our vital organs depend upon our intake
of essential fatty acids, and without them,
these organs can deteriorate over time. This
list of organs includes our eyes, especially our
retinas, which are replete with the Omega-3’s
found in fish oil.
A study published in Archives of
Ophthalmology reports a significant
reduction in the incidence of Age-Related
Macular Degeneration (ARMD) in subjects who
consume fish. The macula is a specialized
portion of the retina responsible for focusing
on details. The study also uncovered a link
between ARMD and high cholesterol levels. These
early results certainly point toward a strong
connection between dietary supplementation of
refined fish oil and the maintenance of healthy
vision. At present, ARMD is the number one
cause of visual impairment in people aged 50 and
over.

In an observational study reported in
Alternative Medicine Review, Swedish
researchers noted that very young children who
ate fish significantly reduced their likelihood
of developing asthma, allergic rhinitis and
eczema. By eating fish at least twice per month
during the first year of life, subjects
decreased their chances of suffering from these
illnesses by 37% over the course of the
four-year study!

In a recent study published in Nutrition and
Dietetics, researchers investigated
correlations between depression and diet.
Classified as a mood disorder, depression
affects millions of Americans every year.
Investigators reviewed existing studies
concerning the possible therapeutic effects of
diet, and found support for the supplementation
of Omega-3 fatty acids (most commonly derived
from fish sources) and the alleviation of
negative symptoms associated with depression.
The conclusion of the study cites the need of a
wider recognition of the benefits of Omega-3’s
and other dietary essentials that may make a
positive change in the lives of those suffering
from depression and help maintain good mental
health.
In a related study in Psychiatry Research,
investigators looked for statistically
significant connections between depression and
Omega-3’s in patients with a history of
heart-related illnesses. Although a causal
relationship was not determined (i.e., which
came first, the lack of Omega-3’s or the
depression), researchers still noted a strong
link between low levels of DHA (one of the
constituents of Omega-3) and those suffering
from severe depression.
Both of these new studies highlight the need for
closer examination of the relation between
Omega-3 dietary supplementation and depression.

A study in Neuroscience outlines some
exciting prospects for future cell therapies in
the area of brain development using DHA, a
crucial Omega-3 fatty acid. Scientists noted
that in vitro experiments demonstrated that
higher levels of DHA were associated with a
greater degree of neuronal growth and cell
protection. Most strikingly, DHA was linked to
the generation of new brain cells in adult
animal subjects. The researchers hope that this
new evidence will help pave the way to the
discovery of a therapy that might help to
reverse the brain cell degeneration associated
with aging and diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Many
people do not realize that the cleaners they
keep under their kitchen and bathroom sinks can
release harmful chemicals into the air your
family breathes. No matter how well you eat and
exercise, if you have these substances in your
home, you could be at risk for allergic
reactions and respiratory illnesses.
Our signature line of cleaning products is a
more natural alternative to harsh conventional
cleaning product lines. Popular market brands
often contain dangerous chemicals that can
negatively impact the air quality of your home
and the long-term quality of our water supply.
In contrast, our cleaning products are
non-toxic, fully biodegradable, have neutral
pH’s and contain no harmful phosphates.
Our cleaning products are industrial-strength,
and yet are completely safe for use in your home
or office. In particular, the Floorwash product
represents the latest in microbial technology,
with friendly bacteria that eliminate dirt,
grime and odor-causing microscopic debris.
To reduce the amount of plastic wastes entering
our strained landfills, we use plastic
containers that are very dense and high-quality
sprayer nozzles. Our Glass & Surface Cleaner and
Degreaser systems can be used over and over
again when used with our refillable cleaning
product concentrate pouches.

Humans are not the
only beings that can benefit from the positive
effects of fish oil supplementation.
Agility for Dogs and Cats is a
specialized supplement that offers both Omega-3
fatty acids derived from fish oil and Omega-6
fatty acids to help improve healthy joint
function. These essential fatty acids produce
hormone-like substances known as prostaglandins.
They are believed to have a positive effect upon
joint stiffness and fatigue, and may improve
overall bone health. The Agility formula is
formulated to maintain healthy joint cartilage
and connective tissue, and to increase the
production of healthy synovial fluid.
